The Vito: The travel bag that does it all
Stay organized, look stylish, and breeze through security hassle-free. With the Vito bag, your laptop, passport, and essentials are always right where you need them—no digging around, no stress
Let’s talk travel bags. I know we all want to breeze through the airport looking chic while staying organized, and trust me, that’s not easy. But after countless flights, I finally decided to create something that solved all my travel woes. Enter the VITO bag, part of my recent collaboration with Claris Virot. While this collaboration also includes the versatile Estelle day bag and the ultra-cool Georgette Mules, the VITO bag is definitely my favorite. (shop my collab here)
So, why did I design this bag? Well, I spent almost a year living in Paris with my boyfriend, traveling back and forth for weekend trips. With Ryanair as my main flight option, let’s just say things got tricky. If you’ve ever flown with a low-cost airline, you know the struggle: the endless weighing of carry-ons, the tight luggage restrictions, and the chaos of trying to stay organized at security. It wasn’t the plane, the staff, or even the flights that drove me crazy, it was the size limits on my hand luggage. (The Vito bag is designed to fit perfectly within carry-on dimensions for all airlines, including budget ones.)
Here’s the thing: they always weigh carry-on suitcases but rarely check carry-on bags. So, I had this idea. What if I had a travel bag that was big enough to hold everything I needed without the issue of being weighed down (literally)? Plus, I wanted easy access to all my essentials at security.
The VITO bag is designed with multiple outside pockets at the back, perfectly organized for your passport, book, laptop, and everything else you need. You don’t even need to open the bag to get anything because it’s all arranged on the outside. There’s a huge space for your laptop, books, passport, wallet, beauty products, and jewelry. I really designed this bag to solve all my airport security hassles.
That’s how the VITO bag was born. It’s designed to keep you organized, hassle-free, and let’s not forget, super stylish. Seriously, I’ve lost count of how many compliments I’ve gotten on this bag while traveling. When people ask about it, I’m always proud to say, “Yep, I designed it!” Well, technically I had the idea, and a very talented designer brought it to life in just a few minutes.
(And if you’re curious why it’s called the Vito bag, well, that’s my boyfriend’s name! I came up with the idea during all those back-and-forth trips between Puglia and Paris, so naming it after him just made sense. Plus, it has a nice ring to it, right?)
Let’s not forget about the rest of the collection. The Estelle day bag is a must-have too, crafted from beautiful crackled leather with a western-style buckle. It’s the perfect transition piece for day-to-night looks, and of course, it matches the VITO bag and the Georgette Mules perfectly.
This collaboration is something I’m incredibly proud of. Not only are the designs gorgeous, but the quality is top-notch, and the price point is a win for anyone looking for something premium yet affordable.
And here’s something super important: the bag has a long strap, but if you remove part of it, it transforms into a belt. This was my idea to minimize what you carry, since belts can actually be pretty heavy. So, the bag comes with a built-in belt. Yeah, I told you I’ve thought of everything!
Oh, and a quick travel tip from me to you: what you wear on the plane matters. Whether it’s a short flight or a long haul, comfort is key. I always bring a scarf, not just for warmth, but to protect my hair from those less-than-clean plane seats, wear roomy shoes, trust me, your feet will thank you when they start to swell, and stick to chic, cozy layers, like cashmere for long flights. I know it’s an investment, but it makes all the difference.
In this newsletter, I’ll share my top three outfit ideas for traveling in style, whether by plane, train, or car. And of course, I’ll be showing off the VITO bag, which will make your next airport experience as smooth and stylish as possible.
The cozy on cloud nine, chic on the ground look
( Jumpsuit by Guest Of Residence, Vintage coat ( get a similar one here or here), Gucci slippers ( old collection but shop similar here) and of course the Vito bag)
When I travel for two to three days, I make sure the pieces I wear at the airport are things I’ll re-wear throughout my trip. For example, I’m currently wearing a long suede coat that I can style in multiple ways—over a light knit and denim, with leather pants, or even with a dress and knee-high boots. It’s one of those coats that goes with pretty much everything, which is exactly what I need when I travel. I always focus on outerwear because a bulky coat would take up way too much space in my carry-on. So I choose one piece and commit to wearing it for the entire trip. Neutral is key here. If it’s something like suede, you definitely want to avoid rainy destinations, but this kind of coat is perfect for a chill weekend with no fancy plans—it’s cozy, super chic, and versatile.
Shoes are important too, and I often pack a second pair like small heeled boots. They’re easy to style with a jumpsuit or a casual outfit, so you don’t end up looking too lounge-y. Speaking of jumpsuits, let me talk about the one I’m wearing. I’ve had it for about a year, and it’s from Guest in Residence, Gigi Hadid’s brand. The fit is perfect, the cashmere is high-quality, and honestly, I’ve traveled so much in this exact outfit. I’ve even paired it with a big faux fur coat, but let’s be real, faux fur in planes can be a bit tricky. If the coat is too big, you end up sitting awkwardly, with the coat across your lap because there’s nowhere else to put it. I usually opt for a long, sleek coat that I can comfortably wear throughout the entire trip.
For shoes, I’m wearing my Gucci slippers (similar here) with shearling inside. They’re proper slippers with a solid sole, so they’re street-appropriate. I’ve had these for years and still love them—they’re probably the shoes I wear most when I travel. They’re perfect for pairing with denim or leather pants for a relaxed weekend. Honestly, if the weekend is super casual, these might be the only shoes I pack.
Now, back to the jumpsuit—it’s a must-have in your wardrobe. Unfortunately, I just checked the website, and they only have it in plum and black now, not beige. But the black is even more chic in my opinion. You could easily style it with a leather jacket for that cool, effortless vibe. This jumpsuit will keep you cozy, warm, and comfortable during your flight and throughout your entire weekend. Trust me, it’s my number one travel outfit.
The Fashion Meets Function look
( Fur coat from Charlotte Simone (similar second hand version here or on Zara here), Denim are from Weekday , Boots are Vintage, Hat is from Ruslan Baginskiy, Belt from Arizona Love)
I travel a lot, and while I love fashion, I don’t want to overthink my outfits. Changing multiple times just isn’t my style. Most of the time, I’m on a morning flight and heading straight to meetings or fashion shows, especially during Fashion Week. So I do a quick refresh at the airport, grab a taxi, and dive into my day. I usually don’t have time to stop at the hotel, so I plan my outfit to be comfortable for the plane and polished enough for work, potentially even dinner later on.
This outfit is perfect for that kind of city break. I’m wearing the perfect denim from Weekday, paired with a simple white t-shirt. On top, I have a short Mongolian fur coat by Charlotte Simone—similar style can be found here. The belt is from Arizona Love, and of course, the hat is by Ruslan Baginskiy.
This look is definitely my go-to. I can wear the denim throughout my trip, and the coat can transition to the evening with a pair of leather pants and those same boots. All the pieces I’m wearing can mix and match with everything I pack. Plus, I often wear a hat because my hair gets dry on the plane, and I’m not a fan of how it looks when I land. A hat is the perfect finishing touch that elevates the whole look.
The effortlessly comfortable, instantly stylish look
(Coat by The Frankie Shop, Denim from Weekday, Knit from Kujten here and mules here)
For this look, I’m wearing my forever favorite denim, linked here. These are men’s jeans from Weekday, and I ordered two sizes up to wear them super low and baggy. They’re my go-to jeans, even for a night out. I style them with western boots to elongate the silhouette, a simple white tank, and either a leather jacket or blazer. They’re boyfriend jeans, so they pretty much go with everything.
On top, I’m wearing a light cashmere knit because, as I’ve mentioned, I always get cold on the plane and need to stay warm. Over that, I’ve got a faux Mongolian fur coat from Frankie Shop, linked here. I’m obsessed with this coat—I wore it non-stop last winter, and I know it’s going to be on repeat this season too.
And of course, I’m rocking the Georgette Mules from my collaboration with Claris Virot. They’re sold out at the moment, but fingers crossed they’ll be back in a couple of weeks. There’s a huge waiting list, and for good reason. I designed them to be basic mules but added details that make them the coolest thing ever. They go with absolutely everything. You can’t see it here, but I’m also wearing cashmere socks because, honestly, my top priority on the plane is staying warm. So, cashmere socks are a must for me.
To finish off the look, I’ve got my Arizona Love belt. And that’s it! This outfit is super versatile. You can easily mix and match—throw another pair of pants in your carry-on (like in the VITO bag), wear the knit and jacket, or even do an all-black look with the big white coat over it. As I always say, outerwear is crucial when traveling. You can fit all your outfits in a carry-on, but a big coat? That’s what you’ll be wearing the entire trip.
