The 2024 Trends from NYFW: Embracing Styles I've Loved Forever
Before you go thinking it's all groundbreaking stuff, let me spill the tea: these trends ain't exactly breaking the mold. Lucky for you, I've got the inside scoop on how to rock them like a pro.
This morning, I received an email from a fashion website telling me: "These are the trends you have to rock for next winter." Typically, I don't open such emails because the word "trend" usually makes me want to hit delete immediately. However, I found myself curious about what I might find amusing in next winter's fashion. You see, my gripe with trends is that people often sacrifice their personal style in pursuit of being trendy, losing a bit of themselves in the process. I firmly believe that one's fashion style reflects a part of their personality. Unfortunately, I've witnessed far too many occasions where individuals wear things that simply don't suit them, failing to flatter their bodies, all because it's considered trendy. Too many times, I've seen it happen!
But let's get back to the subject at hand. I decided to open the email and see what trends they were touting. Red, hmm, that's been my favorite color for as long as I can remember, and I absolutely adore a red ensemble. A total leather look? Well, that's pretty much my everyday attire. And what about a fluffy moment? Okay, okay, are the trend creators stalking my Instagram? Just kidding, I'm not that conceited :)
So, instead of writing an essay on why I'm not a fan of trends, I've decided to craft a very cool post on how I've been rocking these trends forever, and how you can too!
A Little Elmo Moment
( Red on the runway, NYFW February 2024)
Let's kick things off with RED because red has been my favorite color forever. My first designer bag? A Balenciaga motorcycle in red. My first Chanel bag? Red. My first Converse? Red. You get the picture; if it comes in red, it's my first choice. Every time I wear red, I feel powerful, like I'm donning a superhero cape. So, I'm happy to hear that red is going to be all over the streets, well, I hope!
Red is not the easiest color to wear; you have to have that little extra confidence to rock the red trend. If not, believe wearing red will give you that extra confidence. But remember, red does not mean transforming yourself into Elmo. You can start step by step, adding red to your wardrobe.
